Member's Tournament Format and Rules

Basics:
Members Tournament will follow many of the same basic rules followed by the Free Side tournaments. The same single elimination tournament bracket format will be used, the same reporting requirements, and the "one hour rule" will all be in effect. All tournaments will be run by a host, known as the Tourney Master or TM.

The Differences:
Member Tournaments will be open to paying members only, no matter what venue used. All members' tournaments will be seeded tournaments. Current Ratings found in the SpiritWars Player Database will be used to determine seeding.

Venues:
There will be three chat rooms used for the Member Tournaments :

     · Gaul - This will be the primary site for most members tournaments. Any dungeon that your population will support will be authorized.
     · Trading (practice) - This room will be utilized occasionally for a lower risk tournament.
     · Tournaments - This room is located on the free side and will be utilized primarily during the league seasons as a venue for Member Only tournaments. Non-members will be allowed to use the room during this time, but will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. Points and a prize will be awarded
.

Seeding will be determined by current ratings found in the SpiritWars Player Database. Players will be seeded in order from highest to lowest in the bracket. Because the tournaments are seeded, the bracket will be closed 15 minutes prior to the start of the tournament to allow the host time to seed the players and prepare the bracket. All players must be signed in up NLT 15 minutes prior to the start of the tournament can, at the host's discretion, be denied entrance to the tournament. ALL PLAYERS SIGNING UP MUST USE THEIR MEMBER SIDE SCREEN NAME. This is the only name that will show up in the player rating database. ANY player who refuses a match due to ratings differences will automatically be disqualified; his opponent will receive a win for scoring purposes (not a bye). The refusing player will also be barred from further tournament play.

Prizes:

     · Prizes will be awarded to the winner of all tournaments with 16 or more players.  [Note: the TM will announce if there is a prize for the practice-mode only tournaments.  It may vary from week to week.]
     · The prize options for tournament winners will be picked from the Software prize list, or the SpiritWars® Art CD. Only one prize may be awarded to each player or family of players every 30 days.
     ·
Winners must select prize the night of the tourney and send Randy an email by the following morning with their selection, the TM's name, and their shipping info.

Hosts:
Host will primarily be Senior Moderators from the free side. They will work an intermittent schedule to allow them to play in a majority of the tournaments. Randy must approve ALL hosts. The tournament hosts are paying members, just like everyone else, that have volunteered to help out and spend their playing time running tournaments for the rest of us. Randy has entrusted them to be fair and impartial and their decisions will be accepted as final, except in extreme circumstances.

Fair Play and Manners:
As always, fair play and manners will play an important part in everyone's enjoyment of the tournaments. Please refrain from bashing, flaming or using foul language and help us to keep the "spirit" of the SpiritWars playing environment what it has been for nearly 3 years, the best community on the net! Any comments, questions or criticism should be directed to Ogrim Doomhammer (OD) or Randy, not the host. If there is a problem during a tournament, one of us will be available in one of the chat rooms, or via ICQ to help.  Ogrim's ICQ # is 38436556.  The TM can contact Randy via ICQ if needed.
